Most of us probably have a special type of dog breed that we really enjoy. For some, it may be a Labrador retriever and for others, it may be a beagle. There are also those who don’t really have a favorite dog breed but rather, they just want to help any animal that they possibly can to have a forever home. We probably recognize how difficult it can be for shelter dogs and that is why they will sometimes find their way into a loving family and enjoy the good life.
That was the case with Lena, who was a street dog living in Brazil. She was only about eight months old when she was taken to a forever home and as it turns out, she is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. Even though she has lived for quite some time with her forever family, she still remembers living as a stray. That is why it shouldn’t surprise anyone when she did this special something.
Lana’s humans had just bought her a thicker blanket because the nights were getting chilly in Brazil. When they tucked her into bed, they knew that she would be quite warm and cozy in her dog house out front. When they came up the next morning, however, they saw something they weren’t expecting.
Everybody was sleeping that night but Lana saw stray dog near the house. She didn’t bark of the dog to make them go away but she took her new blanket outside and shared it with the stray. She wanted to make sure that they would both be warm for the night.
“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend’. My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!” Said owner, Suelen Schaumloeffel.
It was really touching when she found out that her little dog was so kind. It reminds all of us that we can do our part to make a difference when somebody is in need.
Since that night, her owner started leaving food and water out for the stray. When she tries to get close to them, he runs away so she is just keeping a watchful eye to ensure that he is safe. They hope that he will soon find a home but they know that it will take some time before he is comfortable around humans.
