Orphaned Baby Koala Falls From A Tree So They Give Him A Tiny Arm Cast

Animals fill our lives in so many different ways with wonderful things. If you have an animal in your family, you likely depend upon them for a lot of love and companionship on a day-to-day basis. It isn’t only the pets that fill our lives with love, however, it is also many of the wild animals that we see in our area as well as in videos from around the world. Among all of those wild animals is one that is loved by many, the koala. We have heard a lot about koala lately because of the bushfires that took place last year but now we hear about a baby koala that is sure to leave you in tears.

This baby Joey is only about 150 days old. Amazingly, he weighs just over 1 pound. Typically, a baby koala would be in its mother’s pouch when they are this small but this Joey has a tragic story to tell. The baby’s mother fell out of a tree with the Joey and she was injured to the point where she had to be euthanized. This left the Joey as an orphan, but he wasn’t without help. After being taken to the Werribee Open Range Zoo, he was given all of the care he needed. This included something unique, and perhaps even a little adorable.

Unfortunately, the Joey lost more than its mother in the fall. It also broke its arm, so they had to form a tiny cast to help it recover properly.

When we talk about tiny, it really is tinier than most people realize. According to one nurse, the cast was “not much thicker than a finger.”

As you can imagine, the Internet has gone crazy for this cute little Joey. It’s easy to see why when you look at the pictures for yourself! The good news is, the Joey is doing fine and although the baby misses her mother, their caregivers are doing what they can to keep her happy.
