When a mother has a new child, she is as happy as she could possibly be. It’s a moment in her life that she may have been waiting for for quite some time, and from the time that she found out she was pregnant, her life was not the same. Now that she is actually holding the little one in her arms, it seems as if she just wants the entire world to know about it. Perhaps that is why most parents will post endless pictures of their children online and if you happen to be around them, you are going to hear quite a few stories as well.
As it turns out, this isn’t only something that is confined to human beings, even animals are proud of their children and the accomplishments of giving birth. Perhaps that is easiest seen when you watch a video from the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. It is of an orangutan named Dana who is a proud mother. It wasn’t only the fact that the mother was proud of the child, however, the video itself was very special. You see, it’s the first time that the birth of an orangutan baby was ever captured on film and it’s absolutely amazing to see.
Unfortunately, Dana had already had problems with another pregnancy and the child was stillborn. Her health was also put at risk due to the pregnancy and at 25 years of age, they were wondering if she would ever give birth. They thought that she was infertile because her fallopian tubes were blocked but an obstetrician helped her to conceive. Dagu, a 28-year-old male orangutan is the father.
All of the background information makes the birth a miracle, to say the least. They had the camera set up so they could capture the event and Dana ends up giving birth all on her own. Of course, professionals were nearby, just in case she needed help.
It isn’t long before Dana is doing all she can to care for the little one. She cleans the baby and holds her. It’s absolutely amazing to see and you can feel the pride that this mother has for her little one, as it comes through loud and clear in the video.
