Man Finds Cat Waiting For Him At Home But He Doesn’t Own A Cat

There are two different types of surprises, those that we don’t appreciate and those that we end up loving. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between the two but in the end, the one type of surprise is going to be the best thing that ever happened in your life. It seems as if a man experienced that type of surprise when he came home from work and found a cat sitting in his chair, meowing.

That type of situation would not be all that unusual but there was a unique twist for this particular story. The man saw the cat sitting in his chair but he doesn’t own a cat! In fact, he thought it was rather shocking that he should walk in and find out that a cat had just set up shop in his home as if he had lived there all along! Leave it to a feline to show up unexpectedly and act like they belong there.

The man from San Diego was late for work that day so he left a window open without thinking about it. After he got home from work she saw the little tabby cat just sitting comfortably in his house as if he lived there.

“(I was) very surprised. He just meowed and looked up at me,” Nigel (@Nigeltown) said. “He must have come in through the open window.”

The feline didn’t have a collar and was just following Nigel around.

He assumed that the cat was hungry so he went to get some food and supplies from a nearby store.

“Lil Gato was so happy. He was meowing and purring as he ate,” he said.

“I left for a bit to canvas the neighborhood. None of my neighbors have any cats.”

He checked for a microchip at the veterinarian on the following day. The vet gave him a treatment for fleas and worms and he got his shots caught up to date.

The kitty seemed to respond when he called him Buddy or Gato so they just stuck.

Buddy moved into the home very quickly and got quite comfortable. He even jumped into the tub when he found the bathroom.

“Gato immediately took to his new surroundings and sits on or around me whenever he needs a break from tearing around my place.”

Nigel checked with his neighbors over the following days but nobody claimed the cat or said that they knew anything about him.

But he continued to get attached to his human.

“He’s an amazing little guy, very level-headed,” Nigel said.

But he knows where he’s loved!

“He seems to love his new place. My Buddy boy. He adopted me.”
