There is something that everybody on the face of the planet needs in their life, the touch of another person. It is something that is built into us and when we experience it, it can be a very comforting feeling. Sometimes, it may come in the form of a hug from a friend and at other times, it could come from a sibling or a parent. Humans have come to appreciate this experience in their life but it seems as if animals appreciate it as well.
Sometimes, we may find a friend that we weren’t expecting and it seems as if they were made especially for us. For a little kitten in Los Angeles, that friendship extended to any lap that was available. It all started when a woman named Jamie Orozco heard some faint cries coming from a kitten, but she couldn’t locate where the cries were coming from. Within a few days, she began hearing it again and this time, she knew that they were close. She started looking and found the kitten on the steps of a porch. The kitten was alone and in need of help.
After Jamie found the kitten, she realized that more assistance was needed. That is when she contacted Wrenn Rescues, and a volunteer, Ashley Kelly responded. What she found when she came out was a kitten that needed care 24 hours a day. She was up to the task.
“Since I had four other kittens his age and he was alone, I offered to take him,” Ashley told Love Meow.
They decided to name the kitten Mustang Bartholomew and they realize that he was only half the size that he should be, considering he was about six weeks old. Even though he was small in stature, he had a personality that was as large as life.
“He’s the sweetest little guy I have ever met, and he is very cuddly.”
Before long, the little kitten was sound asleep in his foster mother’s arms. It took a few days but eventually, he was introduced to his siblings as well. It took no time before they were best friends.
“Olivia, Ophelia, Opal and Oliver fully accepted Bartholomew as their new brother and he was already learning how to cat from them,” Ashley said.
Bartholomew spent most of us time cuddling with his foster mom. When she wasn’t around, he was more than happy to curl up in a pile with his adopted siblings.
He also loved seeing an empty lap because it meant he could find a comfortable spot to rest for a while.
The kittens eventually graduated from using a bottle so another volunteer at Wrenn Rescues, Jen Marder started taking care of them and getting them prepared for their new homes.
Bartholomew didn’t waste a moment. He crawled right up into Jen’s lap and all of the kittens joined in for a cuddlefest.
