Depressed Therapy Dog Finds A New Friend In ‘Riff’ The Rescued Rat

There has always been somewhat of a debate over dogs and cats, and stereotypically, they don’t seem to get along with each other. If you ask anyone who has a dog and a cat in their family, however, they will tell you that the stereotype is absolutely wrong. Sure, they may have some sibling issues every once in a while but overall, they do quite well together. It seems as if it is not only dogs and cats who are able to do nicely together, it is also ‘birds of a different feather’ as well.

I would like to introduce you to a rather odd couple, Osiris and Riff. They are best friends with each other but they are strange bedfellows, to say the least. Osiris is a three-year-old Dutch Shepherd and his little friend, Riff, is a rat. Riff was a baby rat who was rescued at only four weeks old by Osiris’ parents. He was so young that he could not even open his eyes and they started nursing him to health with a syringe.

You might have your doubts as to whether a dog and a rat could get along together but these two do quite nicely.

The reason why they do so well together is that Osiris is familiar with being rescued. He was abandoned in a parking lot as a puppy but his forever parents took him in as a foster dog and ended up keeping him because they loved him so much.

They make the most adorable friends.

Osiris is now a therapy dog and he helps his family with many animals that they have taken in over the years.

The family was concerned that they wouldn’t get along at first. After all, Osiris is a large dog and Riff is a tiny rat.

It didn’t take long before they became close friends. In fact, Riff is even able to climb into the mouth of Osiris to clean his teeth.

“Riff Ratt really likes licking the inside of Osiris’ mouth. I’m sure you all are wondering if we’re afraid Osiris will eat Riff – NOPE! Osiris has helped foster and care for dozens of animals and he is the gentlest dog I’ve ever met.”

They often play together

They love to explore the house

They even cuddle

There have been some issues because of the size difference, but they still love each other
