Very few of us enjoy waking up in the morning and for the most part, we would probably want to stay in bed. When we do have to wake up, however, one of the things that really makes us feel good is having a good stretch. We may have been in some rather strange positions during the night and our body tends to be rather tight upon waking. When we take a long, invigorating stretch in the morning, it makes it a lot easier for us to shake the sleep out of our eyes and get going.
Cats are well known for their stretches and we may even try to follow some of that routine, especially if we do yoga. When it comes to stretching, however, felines may just need to take a back seat to a different animal that seems to get his morning stretch in the best way possible. His name is Bikke and he is an adorable chipmunk who lives in Japan. Everything about this furry little friend is absolute cuteness.
Many people don’t realize that there are actually 25 species of chipmunks. They burrow underground and make their nests where they spend the majority of their lives. They may also sometimes live above ground in shrubs or trees but they hibernate in the winter and store as much food as possible before then. Most of the chipmunks gather their food alone and they communicate with each other through high-pitched chirping sounds. They are one of the most adorable creatures on the planet.
When people see Bikke, they fall in love very quickly. That is especially true when they see his morning stretch routine. His human managed to take a video of the morning stretch and posted it online. You can watch him stretch his arms out in front and his legs back behind and it just looks so comfortable. As he does it, he twitches his nose and drags his legs around behind him in an amazing way. He then continues to yawn over and over again, repeating it until he is ready to get up completely.
If he is having a difficulty waking up from a nap, he just continues to stretch until he is ready. It seems as if he has come up with his own technique and it may just be the best thing that any of us have ever tried. You will love watching this little chipmunk stretching and you will probably give it a try for yourself the next time you have to wake up.
