When we look around at the animal kingdom, we tend to focus on what we consider to be most interesting. Some of it may have to do with the animals that share our homes, and the dogs or cats that are part of the family are sure to be a source of amusement and ongoing happiness. If we turn our attention to the outside, we often look to the wild animals that we don’t see in person. We enjoy seeing them through online videos and on television documentaries, and it makes the world a very enjoyable place to live.
There is one type of animal that most people don’t give much thought to, and that is chickens. If you’ve ever had a chicken in your life, you realize that they are very interesting and intelligent birds. Looking at them from a distance, however, you might think that they do nothing more than scratch the ground and lay eggs. Nothing could be further from the truth, and they can also be a source of enjoyment and entertainment if we allow them. The video that we have below shows that very clearly.
The founder of Featherheads Bird Rescue has created something that shows you just how amusing chickens can be. That rescue, located in Hobart, Tasmania, helps chickens that would otherwise be abandoned or those that are abused. When a chicken comes into their fold, they are given the opportunity to live out their lives and to take part in a rather interesting enrichment exercise.
The enrichment exercise wheel created by Featherheads Bird Rescue is nothing short of hilarious. Watching the chickens chase the corn and cucumbers in a circle is loads of fun, but it also shows you that these intelligent birds know what to do when a slight puzzle is put in front of them.
