Black Nose Sheep Are Taking Over the Internet and Their Cuteness Cannot Be Contained

It’s a simple fact that the internet was built on cute animal pics and videos. And lucky for us, there happen to be tons of cute animals all over the world just waiting to drive us nuts with irresistible cuteness. And while most of us are locked in during this coronavirus pandemic, we have a lot more free time to go down our favorite adorable, time-sucking rabbit holes — not to mention finding new ones. And what’s the newest animal trend sweeping the internets? Why it’s The Valais Balcknose, which are also known as the black nose sheep. These wooly critters are simply stupid cute!

They’re not only fuzzy and fluffy, but they also have those nearly pitch-black faces that offset their white wool. While sheep are generally all cute, we must say these sheep really put all others to shame! These critters are native to a region of Switzerland called Valais. And they have grown in popularity over the years to become known as the “cutest sheep in the world.” These sheep have a lot of similar features with your average sheep, but, just as their name would suggest, they have black patches of wool on their nose as well as their entire face, along with their knees, feet, and ears.

The wool from these sheep is used to make items such as bedding, carpets, and felting. This breed is also found on farms, mostly smaller operations, and their meat is quite pricy. “That would be very expensive lamb chops,” says Wendy Artzt, who runs the Alabama-based Teton Valais Blacknose Sheep Co.

Now, as you can imagine, whenever folks see one of these cute little buggers, they want to take them home immediately, plus they have personalities a lot like dogs. They love hanging out with humans, are super friendly, and you can even walk them on a leash!

“Every time I show someone a photo of the sheep, it’s like a child at Christmas. Everyone wants one,” says Artzt.

Sadly, they do not make great pets, as the average adult can weigh up to 287 pounds! But, if you happen to run a farm, these cute critters might be a perfect new addition. Here’s an adorable video featuring a black nose sheep who behaves like a dog.
