I can tell you right now, I’ve never met a cat I didn’t like. In fact, I would go as far as to say that I absolutely love everything about cats (maybe not so much cleaning 13 litter boxes) and my wife and I often find ourselves welcoming new arrivals every year in our home. Of course, there are limitations (which we passed quite some time ago), but we always find we have more room for just one more cute furry baby. After all, most cats are relatively small. However, one breed that definitely breaks the mold is Maine Coon Cats. In fact, these felines measure as long as 40 inches and a male can weigh as much as 18 pounds. They are the largest domestic cats in the world, but they are also absolutely gorgeous from head to tail!
If you live up north in a cold climate, these cats are perfect. They have huge paws and multilayered fur, which allows them to navigate snow and stay nice and warm quite easily outdoors. That said, they can be just as comfortable in a place like Florida, granted that you keep them mostly inside with some really good air conditioning. Another interesting fact about these cats is that they don’t meow like your average cat. Their trilling meow sounds something like a cross between a meow and a purr.
