Having a dog in the family is something that is difficult to describe. It seems that they become such a part of our family from the moment they enter into our lives that they are just like any human member. Of course, we also realize that they often do things that human members of the family will not do. They protect us, are there for us when we are feeling down and they will never leave our side. Many people love their dogs and would never even consider living in a home without them.
Another thing that is wonderful to see is when a dog interacts with a young baby. Studies have shown that having a dog in the family from the time that your child is young will make them more likely to be a dog person when they get older. It can be heartwarming to watch them playing side-by-side, regardless of whether it is a good game of fetch or if they are just taking a nap on the couch. Those moments are often remembered by parents for many years to come and in some way, they are probably remembered by the child.
Sometimes, a dog goes above and beyond when it comes to caring for the family. This includes everyone in the family, even the little ones. A prime example of this is Charlie the Beagle, and his parents say that he does everything that they need him to do to assist with the new baby. Not every dog will show this behavior from the start but it is possible to train a dog to be a good babysitter. When they do anything to interact with the child in a positive way, make sure you reward it in a positive way as well.
