Mark Wahlberg Refuses To Deny His Faith; Calling It A ‘Sin’

We don’t often hear much about religion among those who are famous, but Mark Wahlberg isn’t afraid to discuss it. The American rapper and actor, known for films such as Ted, Daddy’s Home, and The Lovely Bones has recently opened up on the subject.

Many people look at Mark Wahlberg as being somebody who is worthy of imitation. He starts every morning at 3:30 AM and immediately has a workout at 4 AM. It is a very disciplined lifestyle.

He sometimes talks about his exercise routine and his rigid schedule with his fans but he also is candid about his faith. In one interview, he talks about his religious beliefs and fans have been praising him for it.

In one comment after another, people were talking about the respect that they had for him and how grateful they were for his example.

Wahlberg is a devout Catholic and on one particular Ash Wednesday, he appeared on the Today show with the ash cross on his forhead. He talked about the ‘different elements to fasting’ and said that more than food should be given up.

He said: “I think the important thing to understand is that, first of all, if you have issues with food, there are other things.

“God knows the things that he wants you to detach from. We all know those things that make us feel guilty, don’t make us feel as good as we should. So (it’s about) being able to detach from those things and focus on good habits as opposed to bad habits.

“There are challenges for fasting, like today, I won’t have any meat. I’ll have one meal today, and I’ll do that every Friday throughout Lent and Good Friday.”

He also speaks about the impact religion had had on him as an individual. He expressed this, saying: “You know, it’s not popular in my industry, but I cannot deny my faith. It’s important for me to share that with people.

“But, I have friends from all walks of life and all different types of faiths and religions, so it’s important to respect and honor them as well.”

Although he is serious about his beliefs, he doesn’t want to force them on others. He feels that it is wrong to do so.
