It always seems as if there is something interesting happening at the Oscars and it’s not unusual for someone to get offended. It seems as if Adrian Brody has that ability, and it came out in 2025.
After winning his second Best Actor Oscar, Adrian Brody pulled off a ‘disgusting’ act that has everyone up in arms. The 51-year-old actor won the Oscar for the film, The Brutalist.
You would be the talk of social media if you won such a prestigious award but Brody managed to get a little attention for something entirely different. Fans have said that they are so disgusted at his act that they would like him banned from the Oscars permanently.
One person, who posted on Twitter said that if he couldn’t respect the rules and boundaries, he should be banned. Other people simply said he was gross or disgusting.
What was it that caused so many people to be upset with Brody? When he was walking toward the stage, he realized that he still had gum in his mouth. He turned around and threw the gum toward his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman.
Chapman almost seemed to be prepared for him to toss the gum her way and she caught the gum prior to him going up on stage to make his speech. He said in his speech: “Winning an award like this signifies a destination and something my character references in the film.
“But to me, it also, beyond the pinnacle of a career, it is a chance to begin again and the opportunity to hopefully be fortunate enough so that the next 20 years of my life, I can prove that I am worthy of such meaningful, important, and relevant roles.”
He then thanked Chapman and his two children, saying: “I know it’s been a rollercoaster. Thank you for accepting me into your life,” before revealing the two youngsters call him ‘Popsie.’”
It was quite an evening for him, but people just can’t seem to get beyond the fact that he tossed his chewing gum to his girlfriend. Some were even saying that he should’ve used the speech to apologize to her for throwing gum.
The Academy Awards always make for an interesting evening, and it seems as if this year is no different.
