Montreal’s Bell Centre was the location of a great game on Saturday night, but it was also the location where some controversial reactions from the audience took place. The reaction from the crowd was not well received by many.
The arena was full of tension at the beginning of the game, when the US national anthem was played. Although nobody was really expecting it, and it seemed to have been unplanned, many people began booing when the national anthem was played.
The game was a highly anticipated contest, the Four Nations Face-Off game between Team USA and Team Canada. When the Star-Spangled Banner began playing and warrant officer David Grenon of the Royal Canadian Air Force Band began singing, the crowd started their reaction. It wasn’t just a matter of them booing when it started, it kept up throughout most of the song.

It wasn’t long before a video started circulating online that captured the moment. According to reports, it was a ‘good deal of booing for the U.S. anthem’ while the singing took place.
There has been a considerable amount of tension between Canadian fans who are not happy about American national anthems playing during sporting events.

Despite the tensions that may have taken place prior to the game, Team USA was able to secure a 3-1 victory over Team Canada. Team USA scored in each period, while Canada only had a single goal in the first.
It was easy to see by the stats that the American team improved their record to 2-0, with Canada dropping to 1-1.
Many people had quite a reaction to what took place during the national anthem, but it also added to the competitiveness and history, which has been heated in the past between these two hockey teams.
Undoubtedly, it was also a difficult moment for the warrant officer who was singing the national anthem as well. Hopefully, fans can just begin to enjoy the game again.
