Every time the subject of the royal family comes up, it always seems as if some new and bizarre issue is being discussed. Now that a new book is out, more information seems to be coming to light.
According to that new book, Meghan Markle may not have quite understood what she was getting into when she started dating Prince Harry. When she met the royal family for the first time, she was surprised and felt that they ‘behaved like babies.’ That was especially true when she interacted with Prince William.
The Times released an excerpt from the Journal and the book by Royal expert, Tom Quinn. That book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants is rather telling.
Many who worked with Meghan came forward according to the resource and said that she was surprised with what took place after she married into the family. She thought that the royals were ‘strange’ and Harry wasn’t quite as rich as she thought he would be. It seems as if she thought he was a billionaire.
When it comes to the Royal family’s behavior, she didn’t seem to be very impressed. She particularly didn’t like the way they treated her new husband.
One of the staff members who worked with both Meghan and Tom said: “Meghan really disliked the hierarchy.
“Many of the rules do seem pretty pointless and exist only so that the relative status of each senior royal is protected. And the senior royals are such a sensitive bunch – if one gets a gold pen or a new car, they all want one. Meghan thought they behaved like babies.”
She also seemed to be perplexed that the family was ‘stiff’ in their interaction with each other and she struggled to navigate the “positively medieval, labyrinthine system” that was the royal family.
According to a palace employee who was quoted in the book: “She couldn’t understand why Charles, for example, was so formal with his mother. She once said, ‘But they’re mother and son – why are they so completely stiff with each other?’”
Something interesting that came to light was a lack of information on how Meghan was a difficult person to work for. Some sources said that she was just trying to find her place in the family and “just wasn’t used to it as Harry was.”
One of the staffers was quoted in the book saying: “So, one minute she would be really friendly, perhaps overfriendly, hugging staff and trying to make friends with them, and the next she would be irritated by the fact they wouldn’t respond instantly at all times of the day and night.
“At times it got so bad that I heard one of the senior staff mumble that Meghan should really have been employed in the palace kitchens.”
Perhaps getting a fresh start in the United States wasn’t all that bad of an idea after all.
