Co-Host Of ‘The View’ Is Reeling After Serious Allegations Surface About Her Husband’s Conduct

Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin is a well-known orthopedic surgeon and the husband of a cohost on The View, Sunny Hostin. He is also now facing allegations associated with insurance fraud and is one of the some 200 defendants named in New York’s largest ever Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations lawsuits.

Dr. Hostin was included in the lawsuit filed on December 17, 2023. According to the lawsuit, he is being accused of performing surgeries and billing American Transit. That insurance company covers taxi, Uber, and Lyft drivers.

The reason why he is being charged is because he allegedly received improper payments that were filed as ‘dividends’ or other types of compensation for referring his patients to specific medical facilities. Meanwhile, his attorney, Daniel Thwaites is denying the allegations and calling the lawsuit a blanket, meritless action.

He is also defending the doctor’s record, saying that the reputation is untarnished and that the insurance company is only using the legal system to manipulate healthcare providers and harass them.

56-year-old Sunny Hostin has been married to the doctor for over 20 years. They have two children and live in an upscale neighborhood in New York. You often see her as a cohost on The View and she will share personal information at times.

There have been a variety of challenges that the couple has gone through since they were married. For example, Sunny one time revealed that both of her husband’s parents died during the holiday season of COVID-19 when the pandemic was at its height.

Dr. Hostin is being accused of receiving kickbacks for referring patients in exchange for payments to a surgery center. The insurance company says that unnecessary surgeries on accident victims were performed after they only suffered mild injuries.

In New York, the ‘No-Fault Law’ is in place to protect medical expenses for those involved in accidents. If the claims were fraudulent, they could drive up premiums and be harmful to the public by causing instability in the insurance market.

American Transit would like to receive $450 million in damages saying that this is a serious issue in New York’s insurance industry. Their claim is that abusing the no-fault law has caused millions to go out in improper payments and insurance prices have risen as a result.

The case has not yet fully unfolded legally and various legal experts have weighed in, with proponents on both sides of the story. Undoubtedly, there are legal battles ahead for this couple and it will be worth watching carefully.
