Many people enjoy performing and they may have the opportunity to perform before audiences of thousands of people, but they don’t all get the rare opportunity of performing for the Queen. The young girls in this video had that privilege.
The Poppy Girls is a singing group made up of five young girls, Bethany, Megan, Charlotte, Florence, and Alice. All of the young girls have fathers serving in the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force.
This young singing group had an opportunity to sing before the Queen but there was much more to it than most people could have ever expected. Their performance was one that really deserved to be upfront, but they had a surprise heading their way.
The Poppy Girls became famous when they appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. Thanks to their audition, they were able to put on the performance in front of the Queen for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.
The song that they sang, The Call (No Need to Say Goodbye) is one that has a personal significance. It is a ballad intended to be for all young girls who have fathers who are deployed in the service of their country.
After finishing the song, the applause erupted from the audience and it seemed as if they were about ready to walk off the stage. That is when the host stepped out and said that Megan’s father could not be there for the performance because he had been deployed in the Indian Ocean.
What Megan didn’t know, however, was that there was a surprise waiting for her in the wings. You can watch the emotional moment for yourself in the following video:
