Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been in the news frequently in recent years. Much of it has to do with the rift in the royal family, but their personal and professional lives also make the news on a regular basis.
Recently, Meghan has been the focus of a lot of attention, and you would think that she was used to it. After all, from her time on TV to a cover story on Vanity Fair, it seems as if she has been under fire frequently.
There were reports previously about Meghan being difficult to work for and some even went on to say that she was ‘terrible’ as a boss. Essentially, some of her former employees were accusing her of bullying them.
Vanity Fair spoke to many people, a number of whom had to remain anonymous because they had nondisclosure agreements in place. According to those reports, Harry is a ‘charming’ individual. They also said that Meghan appeared to be a good person, especially when it came to her activities and brand building.
At the same time, some people accuse her of being a less than favorable individual. This includes Anna Peele, a writer who said that she retaliates against ‘people so below her in status.’
One person who was interviewed worked with Meghan and Harry on their Netflix and Spotify media projects. They said that her employee relationships seem to be below par as well. In her words, Meghan would be ‘warm and effusive at the beginning, engendering an atmosphere of professional camaraderie.’
As things went downhill, however, it was an entirely different story. Suddenly, the Duchess of Sussex would become ‘cold and withholding toward the person she perceived to be responsible.’
More specifically, the source said that the situation was “really, really, really awful. Very painful. Because she’s constantly playing checkers — I’m not even going to say chess — but she’s just very aware of where everybody is on her board. And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment.”
The source went on to describe her treatment of the help as being undermining and said: “It’s gnawing at your sense of self. Really, like, ‘Mean Girls’ teenager.”
As somebody who looked at it from the inside, the source said that they had a difficult time believing the stories about Meghan bullying aides at the palace and yelling at them after marrying Prince Harry in 2018. Those reports come from a 2021 article in The Times UK.
The Vanity Fair article reported that one individual had to take a leave of absence after working with Meghan after only three episodes of the Spotify Archetypes podcast. A number of others took extended breaks, either leaving their job or undergoing ‘long-term therapy’ after working with her.
One person who spoke to Vanity Fair said: “I think if Meghan acknowledged her own shortcomings or personal contributions to situations rather than staying trapped in a victim narrative, her perception might be better. But who am I to criticize Meghan Markle? She’s doing great.”
This is coming at an unusual time, as Meghan is preparing to launch the Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. It was pushed from January 8 till January 4, and they really didn’t have a choice. It would’ve seemed horrible with her celebrating a lavish Southern California lifestyle while others in the area were suffering from the fires.
This one will be an interesting subject to watch.
