Viewers Are Completely Hooked On The Best Netflix True Crime Series And They Are Binge-Watching It In A Night

We sometimes may hear about shows that are worthy of binge-watching but when we actually sit down for an afternoon to do it, we are disappointed. That is not how Netflix viewers feel about a new true crime series made available.

The Breakthrough is part of the true crime genre and it is super popular, not only because it portrays real-life events but because it really connects with the audience. It’s not unusual for Netflix to focus on true crime, and this original series is one that does it brilliantly.

Fans are praising the show, saying that you don’t need an unbelievable twist to tell a story perfectly. Others are calling it the best true crime that they have ever seen.

This is more than popular with a few Netflix fans, on Rotten Tomatoes, it scored a 7.2 and it was ranked in Netflix top 10 charts very quickly. It’s easy to see that people are enjoying it.

The true crime series is a Swedish show that’s based on the book by the same name. It focuses on the second-largest criminal investigation in Sweden and fictionalizes it to make it interesting.

The director of the series, Lisa Siwe spoke to Netflix, saying: “Though this is a fictional drama series about a crime, it is, above all, a depiction of a human tragedy – where we place our focus on the victims and the investigation rather than the perpetrator.

“It’s a story about the compassion and care for one another that is needed to move on when terrible things happen.”

It is based on a 2004 case where an 8-year-old and 56-year-old were murdered in broad daylight in a Sweedish city. There were no leads or links between the victims for 16 years and the case remained unsolved. It was thought to be a random attack.

One thing that was recovered at the scene was the shooter’s discarded hat but they didn’t have the DNA technology to identify the killer like they would have today. The victim’s families thought that they would never get an answer but in 2020, forensic genealogy brought the case back to life.

This is a show that is well worth watching but more than that, you can binge the entire thing on the weekend. That will put you on the way to watching it regularly.
