Many celebrities are busy people and Jimmy Kimmel certainly falls into that category. Not only is he the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he is also hosting the Academy Awards and has done so numerous times.
With all of the work that Jimmy Kimmel has been doing, it may not come as much of a surprise to learn that the 56-year-old talk show host revealed recently that he may be on his way out. He is under his current contract and thinks that it could be his final one.
After saying that it could be his ‘final contract, Kimmel went on to say: “I hate to even mention it because everyone’s laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to not be the case.”
He has been on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for some 21 years and considering the milestone, he feels that the 2+ years the current contract may be satisfactory for a lifetime. He said: “I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good. That seems like enough.”
As he considers the possibility of getting away from late-night television, Kimmel isn’t quite sure how he will fill his spare time. He said: “It might not be anything that anyone other than me is aware of.” He also says that he has plenty of interests, including drawing, cooking, and sculpting.
He acknowledges that when his grandfather passed away, it had a significant impact on him and his lifestyle. His grandfather died with plenty of unfilled aspirations, which led him to say: “I know that when I die, if I’m lucky enough to die on my own terms in my own bed, I’m going to think, ‘Oh, I was never able to get to this, and I was never able to get to that. I just know it about myself.”
The specifics of what he will do after Jimmy Kimmel Live! remains to be seen. Many people are feeling that this could be the beginning of the end for the talk show host. That being said, he still has plenty to offer and we hope that he makes a decision that feels right for him.
