The birth of a child is one of the most exciting moments in a parent’s life. It is also a moment that is full of uncertainty, and sometimes things don’t go as expected.
A family in Denver realizes all too well that issues can take place during the birth of a child. When Reazjhana Williams and her husband Damarqus Williams were welcoming the birth of their little girl, Kyanni Williams on June 15, 2022, things changed at the last minute.
At first, they thought that they were going to have a natural childbirth but when they gave the mother a pill to speed up her labor, it wasn’t long before she was in for an emergency C-section.
The father said: “They said our baby made a sudden movement, they couldn’t hear her heartbeat or find it, and they took her into an immediate C-section.”
When they handed the baby to the parents, she had a large cut on her face. The father said “They said her face was close to the placenta wall.
“I tried to be understanding about what happened, but on top of the fact her face got cut and a plastic surgeon had to come do it, there’s just a lot of things I’m not understanding with the C-section.
“I’ve never heard of anybody having to deal with their baby’s face looking like this after a C-section.”
The father spoke about how upset he was over the situation and how the little girl was not comfortable.
Since the incident, Denver Health has released a statement:
“Denver Health has been in touch with the family directly. While this is a known medical complication in emergency C-sections, our focus is always on providing care in the best interest of the mother and child,” the statement said.
“At Denver Health, the safety and well-being of our patients is our number one priority.”
