I think most people would agree that flying is the easiest way to travel but it is not without its problems. Sometimes, we may even run into difficulties that could ruin our trip.
In recent years, it seems as if everybody wants to debate over how to behave when they are taking a flight. Some people have even taken things to the level where they have been removed forcibly from the plane.
Of course, not everybody is going to blow a gasket in mid-air, but there are some topics that seem to get the attention of many. This includes giving up your seat to somebody else, and not everybody is on board with it.
There are always going to be opinions as far as play etiquette is concerned, and the woman in the middle of this debate has caused a lot of frustration online. A father asked her to switch seats in the middle of the flight.
The 27-year-old woman gave some details, saying that she suffers from a chronic autoimmune disease, lupus. She always ensures that she has the window seat because it makes the trip more comfortable.
She said: “I always pay extra for a window seat upfront so I don’t bother anyone and can sleep the whole time. I have chronic pain and my pain meds make me sleepy.”
Not long after they boarded the flight, which would take six hours, the man sitting next to her asked if she could swap seats with his 7-year-old son. His son wanted to see out the window.
The father explained that it was the first time his child had flown and he wanted to see the view.
The woman said: “I told him no and that I paid extra to have this specific seat. He said that it’s his son’s first airplane ride and that he would really like to look out the window.
“So I said; I’ll keep the window open for him then as I have an eye mask I can wear. He said I was being difficult and to just let him switch my seats. So I asked if he would pay the price I did and he said I’m being ridiculous. I put my headphones in and ignored the father.”
For the entire six-hour flight, the child complained about not being able to see out the window. They continued to ask her to swap but she continued to say no every time.
Eventually, the flight attendant came over and asked her to switch seats to keep the peace but, the woman said, ‘I stuck to my guns.’
She then said: “I told a couple of my friends with kids this story and they said I was unreasonable.”
Many people began debating the subject after it was posted. Some agreed with the woman and said they were happy she stuck to her word. Others said she was being slightly unreasonable and could have met them halfway.
