‘Roy Rogers’ Daughter Opens Up About Her Famous Father

You have to go back quite a few years to remember Roy Rogers, but that doesn’t mean that his name is still not synonymous with being a cowboy. He was an icon back then in the 1940s, and continues to be one today.

In the 1940s, he was popular as a cowboy and had quite a fan base, including a large percentage of women. He was musically gifted, could act, and was the man of courage that all of us needed.

There was also a lot going on in the background when the spotlight was off. Roy Rogers was not only a talented actor and musician, he also lived a fulfilling personal life and was devoted to his family.

Rogers was born on November 5, 1911, as Leonard Slye. When he was younger, he lived in poverty and struggled with the rest of his family, but he went on to become a mega-celebrity.

In 1933, he married his first wife, Arlene Wilkins. They had a daughter together, Cheryl Rogers-Barnett, who was born in 1936. Unfortunately, Arlene died that same year, leaving Rogers to raise his daughter alone.

In 1936, Roy Rogers married Dale Evans, another actress and singer who was going to become his lifetime partner. They adopted and raised a number of children, including two daughters, Robin Elizabeth Rogers and Sandy Rogers.

Dale Evans supported Roy Rogers as his wife but she also had quite a presence of her own. Both Roy Rogers career and his public image would benefit as a result of her efforts.

Unfortunately, Roy Rogers passed away in 1998 and his daughters are now talking about what went on behind the scenes in their private life. It gives us a greater understanding of how Roy Rogers was a family man and we can’t help but appreciate him more.

Cheryl is responsible for preserving his legacy for the most part. Sandy will also share memories, sometimes talking about how he was behind the scenes.

It’s nice to get to know a celebrity more than we may have in the past. We’re so thankful that his daughters have shed more light on the subject.
