When you are on a flight, you are typically focused on your own needs and what is going on within your specific and general area. There are times, however, when we may see something else on the flight that catches our attention.
A woman by the name of Megan was traveling from San Diego to Nashville aboard a Southwest Airlines flight. She wasn’t expecting anything unusual that day, but she witnessed something and couldn’t help but share pictures of it online.
There was a 96-year-old woman on the flight and she appeared to be very frightened and nervous about flying. Later, she would learn that she had flown for 15 years so she was anxious.
It’s terrible to feel that way when you are on a flight and alone but thankfully, there was a ‘Flight Angel’ sitting next to her. The gentleman may have been a stranger, but he offered to support her in a beautiful way.
The gentleman continued to comfort her by holding her hand and speaking softly to her throughout the flight. He would explain the sounds and sensations to her as the plane took off and allowed her to relax. When turbulence occurred, his voice remained steady to give her reassurance.
It wasn’t just kindness when he was sitting at the seat. When she needed to use the restroom, he would stand up and walk her down the aisle. After landing, he helped her with her bag and made sure that she disembarked safely.
There was one moment that really caught Megan by surprise. The elderly woman had a moment of confusion and thought her daughter was her sister. The gentleman never wavered, he remained calm until she was with her family member.
We all have opportunities to help other people in life. When we do so, we can help them but we also help others who may be looking on.
