We are there for our children when they are growing up so when we get older, we expect that they will be there for us as well. When they aren’t, it can really leave you feeling hurt.
It seems as if that is how an elderly woman in China feels because her children were not there for her as she grew older. Ms Liu from Shanghai was not very happy about the children and how they handled things, so she decided to get even.
It seemed as if Ms Liu loved her cats and other four-legged animals more than she loved her own children because she decided to include them in the will. In fact, they are going to get all of the money.
Initially, the will stated that all of the money and property would go to her children but because they neglected to come and visit her as she grew older and became ill, she decided to make some changes.
In the end, she gave $2,800,000 to the pets and left the children out in the cold. The kids were all outraged by what happened, especially considering the large amount of money that was left to the cats and dogs.
Although she had left the money to the pets in the will, there was a problem that had to be resolved. It is not legal to leave your money to animals in China, so she appointed a local veterinary clinic to take care of the animals and act as administrator of the inheritance.
Officials are still looking for a way to solve the issue but until then, it seems as if the animals are going to be living high on the hog. According to one official: “Liu’s current will is one way, and we would have advised her to appoint a person she trusts to supervise the vet clinic to ensure the pets are properly cared for.”
