UPS Driver Spots Note On Package And Saves A Woman’s Life

Most of us don’t wake up in the morning and think that we are somehow going to be a hero that day. There are times, however, when we are given the opportunity and that is when we must step up to the plate.

A UPS driver found a way to become a hero one day and he saved a woman’s life in the process. He was just out doing his job when the unthinkable occurred.

The driver had actually been delivering UPS packages for many years and he probably saw his fair share of unusual things while doing so. When he saw a message written on a package that he picked up one day, however, he knew that he had to take action.

As it turns out, the woman had hastily written ‘contact 911’ on the package before handing it to him. He could’ve ignored it but rather, he decided to follow through and we are very happy he did.

A representative of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in Missouri, Sgt. T.J. Wild spoke about the driver. He said that the driver had made a ‘huge difference’ in the arrest of 33-year-old James Jordan of Robertsville.

According to investigators, the driver had gone to the Jordan’s home after he was called to pick up a package. Jordan’s wife met him at the front door and handed in the package but had written ‘contact 911’ on it. When the driver left the house, he called the authorities.

UPS released a statement about what the driver did, saying that he did the right thing that day. They said: “We are grateful this UPS driver with more than a decade of service followed protocol when he saw a customer in distress and contacted authorities after he saw her message to contact 9-1-1. Our drivers are very familiar with their routes, and are trained to be aware of their surroundings and respond to requests for assistance.”

The woman had been through quite an ordeal that started the day before the UPS driver came. According to court documents, Jordan had stopped her from leaving the home or using the phone. He then beat her, put a gun to her head, and threatened to take her life. When she tried to escape, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back into the house.

The couple’s three-year-old child was also at home during the time the abuse was taking place. Franklin County Sheriff’s Department noted that he was locked in his room without food for 15 hours during that time.

After the UPS driver contacted the authorities, a SWAT team went to the house and took Jordan into custody. He was charged with domestic assault, sodomy, felonious restraint, unlawful use of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
