People Put Crockpot On Stovetop And End Up Regretting It

When you are in the kitchen cooking, you don’t often think about the placement of your materials. You might want to get them as convenient as possible but what if you were to put something in the wrong area? What could possibly happen?

If you’ve ever experienced a serious issue in the kitchen, it likely snapped to your mind very easily. For many, it involves something that is very expensive and relatively easy to break, a glass-top stove. Use it in the wrong way and it will not treat you well.

Even though we know that you have to be careful in the kitchen, there are always going to be problems that occur. This includes something that involves one of the most beloved household items that we used to cook, the crockpot.

That is where this unique image we shared with you comes in. It shows a glass-top stove that is completely covered with chili. That chili wasn’t quite done, so the chef made a mistake.

They were going to cook the chili for just an hour longer and they could put it on the stovetop as a convenient way to do it. When they picked it up to cool the crockpot insert, however, the bottom fell off and the chili went everywhere. I can’t imagine the cleanup!

This may make you wonder what went wrong. In fact, there is something that anybody who uses a slow cooker should never do, never put the ceramic insert on the stovetop. Why not?

You can use the crockpot to cook in a low temperature and it uses the heating element within it. On the other hand, stove tops will generate an intense amount of heat and it can do damage to the ceramic. Before you know it, the ceramic inside of the crockpot is cracked and breaking.

This is a rule that you should keep firmly in mind because if you ignore it, you can guarantee you are heading for a disaster. Not only are you going to make a mess, you could risk burning yourself and you are going to ruin a lot of food.

In addition, the glass stovetop itself may become damaged. It could cause cracks to form within the glass or it could get scratched by the fragments of ceramic that are now covering it.

Since it is such a problem to use a crockpot on the stovetop, is it safe to use anything else? In fact, you should never use ceramic cookware on a glass stovetop because they are not specialized for that purpose. Take a moment to look at the manufacturer’s guidelines and you will see what you can and can’t use.

Long story short, your crockpot should be used on the countertop and not on the stovetop. It is meant to cook slowly, not quickly. In addition, transfer the food to the stove to cook further in a seperate pot rather than putting the crockpot insert on top of the stove to cook it.
