Most people consider October to be a month where we celebrate witches, ghosts, and everything else associated with it. Children may even watch the skies to try to catch a glimpse of a witch on her broomstick.
In the middle of October, something hilarious happened that likely gave many children and a few adults a moment to ponder whether they were actually seeing their Halloween nightmares come true. It’s the moment that a great horned owl came out of the sky, grabbed a stick toy horse, and went on a flight.
Fortunately, someone was able to capture the event in a video and they shared it on social media. It wasn’t long before people were smiling around the world, shocked at how the classic image of a witch on her broomstick was brought to life by a thieving owl.
It’s also interesting that the owl chose the middle of October to do this. When Eric Lind saw it, he knew that he was seeing something special so he grabbed his phone and began filming immediately.
He said: “My mom received a call from one of the neighbors telling her to look outside in the backyard at our pine tree. They had spotted the owl as it flew into the tree initially, but couldn’t quite tell what it was carrying at first.”
That something strange turned out to be a stick horse, a child’s toy that the owl had stolen. It seemed to have quite an attachment to the horse, which may have looked somewhat like a fluffy animal that the owl could prey on.
It really doesn’t matter why the owl did this, the fact that he did it added to the humor. Eric even had a rather humorous comment, saying: “If your child is missing their stick horse, you’ll have to take it up with the owl!”
