Dermatologist Tells Us Why Jennifer Lopez Still Looks So Young

The aging process is something we all go through. We don’t want to have it happen, but it happens naturally.

That is, of course, unless you are Jennifer Lopez. Even though she is 53 years old, she looks younger than she ever has. This has caused many people to wonder why she is able to keep such an ageless look.

In 2020, Jennifer Lopez talked about her thoughts on cosmetic procedures. She said: “I haven’t ever had Botox to this day. I’m more about a natural approach to skincare… but I want [my products] to work.”

Dr. Dray, a leading dermatologist has looked into why she has such a youthful appearance. The doctor discusses these procedures and said that they aren’t the only way to reverse signs of aging. She said: “There are many other factors that go into skin aging.

“I think people are under the impression that getting Botox, fillers, and having cosmetic procedures is really why these people look so good. And it’s more than that.”

Here are four reasons Dr. Dray feels Jennifer Lopez has kept a youthful look:

1: J.Lo. Avoids UV Radiation

The sun can really have an impact on her skin and overexposure to the sun’s rays can lead to the formation of wrinkles. According to Dr. Dray, Jennifer Lopez has avoided the sun largely or at least taking precautions against sun exposure since she was young.

The doctor explained: “The main factor is UV rays from the sun, and J.Lo is pretty vocal about the fact that since the age of 22, she has been really diligent with sunscreen.”

2: Lopez Eats a Healthy Diet

Jennifer Lopez eats a diet that has seriously contributed to the appearance of her skin. The dermatologist says that it has played a ‘major role’ in her youthful look.

Although Dr. Dray said she doesn’t know what the diet is necessarily, and it’s not something we have to follow strictly, it is important. She went on to say: “Everyone’s nutritional needs are unique to them and it’s not necessarily helpful to follow a celebrity’s diet because they are going to have different nutritional needs.”

Dr. Dray also talked about some of the things “that are ‘good for the health of our skin.’ The list includes “healthy fats, getting enough protein, vitamins and minerals, and vitamin C for building good healthy collagen.”

She talked about the importance of having a balanced diet and getting the ‘nutritive requirements.’ She added: “But if you survive on sugary processed foods, it’s not going to set you up for healthy skin.”

3: Jennifer Keeps Active

Exercise is also very important for our skin. Jennifer Lopez feels that being active is keeping her skin fresh and healthy. It improves circulation and reduces inflammation. Lopez is very open about her extensive workout routines and ‘nonstop’ dancing.

4: Genetics Are Important

One other factor that can affect the appearance of our skin is genetics, even though we don’t have any control over it. Certain genetic factors can keep you from having dry skin conditions, could make you pale, and can even affect the thickness of your skin.

The doctor said: “Genetics definitely play a role in how quickly your skin and total body will age.’’ She added that there are many ’’things in our environment that contribute to aging of the skin.”

She also added: “We have different enzymes in our skin that help combat those free radicals. Some people’s genes make it so that their enzymes are better perhaps.”
