There are many things that we may remember from our childhood but perhaps some of the fondest memories revolve around our time on the playground. It was the time in school when we could run outside and burn off some energy. For some of us, we may have gravitated toward the swingset or perhaps we may have enjoyed a good game of dodgeball. In any case, however, the playground was likely regulated and as safe as could be.
Although that may be true today, it has not always been the case. Some of us may remember some rather frightening pieces of playground equipment that never would have passed the test in these days. It doesn’t matter if it was the potential for a fall from a high area or just the fact that many of them were rusty and did not operate properly, they are something fun to look back on but not necessarily something we would want to subject our children to.
If you remember the playgrounds of your youth and wonder why things are so different today, perhaps you just need to take a look back again. As you look down through these pictures you will no doubt feel some nostalgia but at the same time, you may feel a little shocked over what you are seeing.
