The world was looking forward to the 2024 Emmy awards that took place on September 15. It was an opportunity to see some of the celebrities that they follow very closely.
When the Emmy Awards occurred, there was one particular celebrity that was noticeably absent. Dick van Dyck was expected to be at the Emmys to present an award, but he didn’t show up.
98-year-old Dick van Dyck has been entertaining us for decades. It’s amazing to consider all that he has done for us over the years.
That is why it is not surprising that his fans would be watching him very carefully. As he gets closer to the century mark, they want to ensure that he is as healthy as possible.
Although he was not in attendance at the Emmy Awards on September 15, he did show up on September 7 to the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. He watched the producers of his special, ‘The Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic’ get presented with an award.
He had revealed that he was hoping to share his story of some 80 years in show business via a one-man show. I was thinking of doing — 80 years in the business, I have a lot of stories to tell. I thought I’d just do a one-man show, like this,” he said. “Just sit and talk to the audience.”
He also has said that he hopes to be remembered for his laughter and for making people laugh for 75 years.
Van Dyke has earned a number of awards in his time, including being the oldest actor to win the Daytime Emmy Award, as he played a guest role on Days of Our Lives.
In speaking of the award, he said: “This is a very different honor for me; I seldom get recognized for dramatic or straight acting – comedy and musicals are my specialty after all. I’m so honored and it will be a fun night celebrating with the entire daytime television community.”
