Michael Jackson’s Brother From The Jackson 5 Has Died

When most people think about the Jackson 5, the first person that comes to mind is Michael. He certainly was an iconic part of that musical family, but there were others who had talent as well.

Unfortunately, one of the Jackson 5 group has passed away. Tito Jackson died at the age of 70, although there hasn’t been any official reason released as of yet that would tell us why he died.

According to one of his friends, Steve Manning, Tito was driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma when he passed away. He is speculating that he may have had a heart attack.

There were nine Jackson children, and two of those children went on to become music sensations around the world. Who hasn’t heard of Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson? They are household names.

The sons of Tito, TJ, Taj, and Taryll went on Instagram to share the news. They said:

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as “Coach Tito” or some know him as “Poppa T.” Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be “Tito Time” for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is “Love One Another.” We love you Pops.”

Tito founded The Jackson 5 along with his brothers and it went on to become a mega-successful pop group. The other brothers who played along with him included Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. They were famous during the late 1960s and into the 1970s. Some of the popular hits included ABC, I’ll Be There, and I Want You Back.

Tito Jackson was born Toriano Adaryll Jackson. He played the guitar and added vocals to the group. Most of the focus tended to be on Michael because he was the lead singer.

The group’s father, Joe Jackson helped to form the group that got its start in Gary, Indiana. They played locally at first but when they signed with Motown, they broke into something much larger.

They left Motown in 1975 due to creative differences and landed with epic records. At that point, they changed their name to The Jackson’s. They could no longer be called The Jackson 5, because that name was owned by Motown.

Jermaine decided to stick with Motown but Randy Jackson, the youngest brother joined the group. They continued to be popular well into the 80s, with hits such as Shake Your Body (down to the Ground), and Can You Feel It.

It’s always sad when someone passes away. May he rest in peace.
