When we lose someone who is close to us in death, it can leave a scar on our hearts that lasts for many years. There may be times, however, when we eventually pick up the pieces and start over again.
Country music singer Rory Feek lost his wife eight years ago and it was absolutely devastating to him and his family. He has now opened up his heart again to love and the family couldn’t be happier.
When his wife died, many thought that he would never find love again. As it turns out, there was a woman who had been teaching his 10-year-old daughter for many years, and her name is Rebecca. She ended up becoming his bride.
Rory married the dedicated teacher in a private ceremony. It was a very special moment, but it was even more special because his daughter, Indiana, gave her full blessing to the ceremony and she did so in a special way.
In a blog post, Rory spoke about the journey that led him to marry Rebecca. He said that it started out as a simple song he was writing but the two of them had been very cautious about talking about any type of relationship.
Indiana had absolutely loved her late mother but one morning, Rebecca came to the farmhouse to teach her and something unusual happened. They had a prayer together and then Indiana came out and told her that she wanted them to get married.
She reasoned: “My Mama’s been gone a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother.”
Rory took this as being a sign, and on July 14, they went to Greycliff, Montana, and got married under a beautiful timber pavilion. The ceremony came as a surprise to many in the family and their friends, but they were very happy to join in the celebration.
In the ceremony, Rory talked about how blessed he was to have her in his life to share these special moments together. He said: “I found myself thinking about how blessed I was to be given the opportunity to love again. To not only feel loved but to get the chance to give love again. To be the one who gets to spend my life making Rebecca happy.”
He also sang a special song for her that he had been working on for months. It was a perfect day and we wish them many happy years together.
