One of the things that many people enjoy in life is taking a night off and going out to a restaurant. It’s a great way for everyone to enjoy the evening, but problems sometimes occur.
One of the big issues that may take place is when parents take their children up to the restaurant and they end up misbehaving. If the parents don’t take care of their children properly, it can make it difficult for everyone nearby.
Of course, we hear a lot of complaints about bad parenting, especially when people are paying for a night out and it is ruined in this way. It seems as if there is not much that can be done about it, but one restaurant has come up with a plan.
The Toccoa Riverside Restaurant outside of Blue Ridge came up with an idea and it seems as if they are implementing it. If parents don’t take care of their children, they can be charged a surcharge for bad parenting.
This is a decision that has upset many patrons and is one that is questioned by many people online. When you look at the receipt from the restaurant, however, you can easily see that there is a hefty surcharge for parents that don’t take care of their kids.
In one particular case, a person claimed that the owner of the restaurant came out and said they were adding $50 to the bill because they didn’t take care of their children properly. They felt this was outrageous, and they complained about it online.
Other people who regularly go to the restaurant, however, are happy with the fact that children are asked to behave when they are there. They know that they are going out and spending money to eat, and they want to do so without bad children being rambunctious nearby.
When they reached out to the owner of the restaurant, he said that they did add the surcharge during COVID but they had not charged anyone in recent memory. The last time he remembered was when a family brought nine kids to the restaurant and they were running wild.
In the end, it is really up to the people to decide if they want to eat at the restaurant or not. If they bring their children, however, they may want to bring some extra money if they decide not to keep them in check.
