Most of us could not imagine living life without a dog. They tend to bring so much to our lives that we could never repay them for what they do. Not only are they companions and good friends, they offer unconditional love. Once we bring them into our home, they quickly become a part of our family. We also realize that each dog has their own personality and sometimes, they have their own skills that they bring to the family as well.
If you have a Newfoundland, you realize that you have quite a large dog on your hands. They can also be a wonderful family dog and can even do some amazing rescues, as you’re about to see. This Newfoundland was visiting the beach for the day with his family when his little human sister fell down in the ocean. They were having a lot of fun at first but as soon as he sensed that danger existed, he sprung into action. Fortunately, the entire ‘rescue’ was caught on video by the mother.
It is not only people who have Newfoundlands that say they are good for the family, PetMD agrees. According to the site, they are one of the best options for a family dog. Not only are they loyal, they are patient and they will put up with children who may be a little over energetic.
A number of other pet websites also give strong recommendations for the Newfoundland as a family dog. Keep in mind that they are great for the family but they are also large and perhaps a little messy. They drool, shed and they will not be very far away from you at any time.
We were happy to see that this family dog was there to rescue his little sister when she got knocked to the ground by a wave. Although she wasn’t in any danger and couldn’t stop laughing, he didn’t waver from his mission. He pulled her to safety and even stopped every once in a while to make sure that she was fine.
