The 1980s were a rather wonderful time. Many of us who were youngsters during that decade spent our time playing video games at the arcade, playing outside and of course, watching television. There were many fantastic shows back in those days, but one of the biggest and best shows of the time was ALF. If you still remember that lovable alien, you will be happy to know that a reboot seems to be in the making. It may take a while, but we think the wait is going to be well worth it.
It has been reported that by the summer of 2019, we may be able to return to that simpler time, thanks to Warner Bros. Television. Of course, they are keeping things under tight wraps but it did manage to leak out and the sitcom may be on its way back to the tube again. For the generations that have not yet been introduced to ALF, it is only going to take a few moments of watching the show for you to absolutely fall in love.
We may even have got a foretaste of the reboot, thanks to a show in season 3 of Stranger Things. You remember when the family cat was eaten? Yeah, we all thought of ALF when we saw it.
ALF stands for Alien Life Form in the original series. He was from the planet Melmac and after crash landing on earth, he went to live with the Tanner family. They had a home in the suburbs and the entire show was based on them trying to lead a normal life, even though they had this sarcastic alien living in their home.
ALF was on TV from 1986-1990. You can also find a lot of merchandise, which was quite popular back in the day.
ALF hasn’t been around for about 28 years but he still remains a part of pop culture. Delta Airlines even used him in an older safety video. You also hear references to this fuzzy alien in a number of shows, including The Big Bang Theory.

The creators of ALF, Paul Fusco and Tom Patchett worked on the original series. Joe was the voice and the puppeteer for the character. There were also a number of members of the family, including Max Wright and Anne Schedeen, as the Tanner parents Willie and Kate, and Andrea Elson and Benji Gregory, as their children Lynn and Brian.
You won’t find much information from the network about the ALF reboot, but it would be cool if ALF came back from area 51. It has been reported that he has been held there since the original show went off the air.
We can’t wait to see what type of problems ALF digs up but if the original show was any indication, we have a lot to look forward to.
