Dawn French Shares How She Was Not Able To Hug Husband For Weeks During Lockdown

Dawn French recently shared how she could not hug her husband at the start of the pandemic in 2020 during the first lockdown. She also says they need to sleep in separate rooms because of his status as a frontline worker.

Dawn is married to Mark Bignell, a therapist who co-founded Hamoaze House, a day support rehabilitation center for people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. He co-founded the center along with Dawn’s late mother, Roma French, who was also the person who set them up on their first date.

At first, Dawn confessed to not feeling attracted to Mark, but she said she started falling for him when he opened up about his relationship with his children.

The Vicar of Dibley star noted that she’d hugged her fellow actor Rob Brydon before having a chance to embrace her own husband while working with him on the movie “Roald & Beatrix: The Tail of the Curious Mouse. She said this gesture meant a lot to her, even if it was only a part of the script.

Dawn, 64, shared this with rob on an episode of his podcast “Brydon &”:

In “Roald & Beatrix: The Tail of the Curious Mouse,” Dawn played the role of Beatrix Potter.

Rob appeared in the film as William Heelis.

These days the couple are enjoying the quiet life in their lovely new home on the Cornwall-Devon border in Calstock.

In 2006, she sold her former Cornwall mansion, which she purchased for £3 million, a residence in which she lived with her ex-husband Sir Lenny Henry and their daughter Billie for 15 years.
