For Eileen Ash, her birthday celebration was filled with good cheer from close friends and family, as she enjoyed her delicious birthday cake and a celebratory glass of her favorite red wine. Eileen also received a flood of well-wishes from folks all over the world.
You see, unlike most folks, Eileen was celebrating her 110th birthday, an achievement most of us will never reach. And we can tell you that her 110 years on Earth have been anything but dull!
Eileen now lives at St. John’s House, located in Norwich, England. At the facility, folks know her to be a cheerful, chipper, and cheeky character, according to the facility’s blog post.
Aside from the vibrant sparkle in her eye, most folks would never have guessed that back in her day, she was one fierce cricket player and once worked for the U.K’s foreign intelligence service “MI6” during WWII and years after!
She achieved all this well before she became a member of the exclusive centenarian club.
When Eileen turned 105, she finally took and passed her driving test.
Then at 106, she rode inside a 1930’s biplane. And today, Eileen’s recognized as the oldest living international cricket player. At The Hewett Academy, they named a sports hall after her, and Eileen’s an honorary lifetime member of the Marylebone Cricket Club with her portrait hanging at Lod’s cricket ground.
So, as you can see, it’s no wonder her 110th birthday was met with such fanfare. However, she doesn’t drive anymore, but the staff does arrange for her to ride chauffeured in her adorable yellow mini.
St. Jon’s House also shared several photos of Eileen’s special day as well as her incredible story on Facebook. We think it’s pretty safe to say that Eileen has earned quite a few new fans!
Eileen had an absolute blast on her special day.
She also wished to express her gratitude and thanks for the incredible life she’s lived so far and all of the people she’s connected with over the years.
Now, of course, you know a lot of folks ask Eileen all the time about her “secret” to a long and happy life, to which she says it’s just:
Well, folks, you can’t argue with results!
