Church Signs That Are Telling It Like It Is Are Making People Uncomfortable

I believe that the majority of people who go to church are people just like us: decent people with their own faults and flaws. The fact is, stepping into a building once a week doesn’t make you a good person. If you’re a jerk the rest of the week, you’re probably a jerk on worship day as well. Unfortunately, the jerks who call themselves Christians give the decent normal Christians a bad name. It’s these jerks that people look to when they want to say that religious people are hypocrites. But isn’t that the case with anything? The bad guys will always manage to show themselves.

I believe that being a good person means being kind to other people. There are plenty of verses in the Bible that say not to judge, not to hate your neighbor, not to be greedy or envious, etc…People are going to disagree and that’s just the way of the world, it seems. One way that decent churches try to get a point across is by putting good arguments in the sign outside of their churches. These signs usually have things like the pastor’s name, the times of the services, and contact info for the church office. However, in recent years, some churches have started going viral because of their unique signs.

Although churches aren’t supposed to be political, in some cases, politics is life, so churches get dragged into politics along with the rest of us. Also, lots of churches take a lot of flack from other churches who disagree with them. For example, if a church welcomes LGBTQ+ people, there are going to be people who disagree with that, despite the whole “love thy neighbor” thing.

Some churches use their signs to remind folks to be decent people. It’s not that hard, right? Or is it? I love this one about “What Would Jesus Do.”

And what better way to call out a thief than by shaming them without naming them?

Hey, even Russia has its limits.
