Latest Dangerous Fad Has TikTokers Putting Gorilla Glue in Their Hair

A TikTok user named Tessica Brown made headlines recently when she thought it would be a good idea to use Gorilla Glue spray to set her hair. What ended up happening was that the woman’s hair held onto the glue for more than a month. Here’s something I know about Gorilla Glue. My wife used it to make a sort of pen caddy that’s three levels high. She used the incredibly strong glue to hold the levels together with candlesticks. Picture a three-tiered cake that’s about four feet tall. It worked and it has held up for years. It has tons of weight on it and it still holds strong and steady.

If Gorilla Glue holds something this heavy like this, I can’t even imagine what it would do to someone’s hair. However, Tessica’s situation didn’t serve as a warning for some people because now another woman, Avani Reyes, decided to try it on her own hair. The video went viral over the weekend and it shows the woman’s hair not budging as she tries to pull a comb through it. Her hair is all matted up. But it’s not just inconvenient. Reyes ended up at the hospital trying to get help with her situation. The hospital staff didn’t know what to do for her, but they suggested she use olive oil, coconut oil, or tea tree oil to try to remove the glue.

Reyes commented that she was on her way to the hospital because her scalp was burning. Even after washing her hair, the Gorilla Glue wouldn’t come out, she said. Yeah, no kidding. It’s made that way by design. When Reyes tried to use coconut oil to remove the glue, she was unsuccessful. Then, she thought it would be a good time to set up a GoFundMe so that people could “help with Gorilla Glue situation.” She claimed she may have to have surgery to remove the glue. When other TikTok users asked why she used the glue in her hair even after being warned not to, she said it was an “accident.”

Some TikTok users suggested that she was trying to gain attention from the stunt, but Reyes denies it. Nevertheless, people have donated. One person even gave $3,000 towards the surgery fund. Reyes said that she’ll be going to Los Angeles to have the surgery, though no date has been set. Watch this horrifying video below.
