Man Attaches Hummingbird Feeders to His Glasses to Study Them Up Close

I grew up in the city, so I never was around much wildlife, and I never developed an interest in bird watching and things like that. However, when I moved in with my wife, I was surprised to learn that the behavior of birds really fascinated me. See, my desk sits next to a window, so I get to see not just birds, but sometimes other wildlife as well. We particularly have a lot of squirrels and my wife said the same squirrel family has lived here for probably 50 years or more. She’s lived in the house for 22 years, and no squirrel has ever been killed on our property in the time she’s had it.

The only problem I have with the admittedly adorable squirrels is that they eat my birdseed. That’s right, I became a bird enthusiast. I set up multiple bird feeders outside my office window, and I never figured out how to keep the squirrels out of my birdseed. And no, I don’t feel sorry for them because we have two pecan trees in the yard that feed the squirrels. We don’t pick up the pecans so there’s more than enough for them to eat and “squirrel” away for the winter. However, apparently, my birdseed is tasty because these guys love it. Another thing I started doing was setting up hummingbird feeders.

The tiny hummingbird is one of the most spectacular birds in nature. They weigh less than a nickel and make a humming noise by flapping their wings rapidly. People who watch birds love hummingbirds, but it’s hard to get up close to them to watch them in action. To do this, hummingbird enthusiasts have gotten creative to try to see how they do things up close. This man from Lyons, Colorado went viral last year for his method, which involved attaching hummingbird feeders to his glasses. It worked.
