Nancy Ellis, Sister To George H.W. Bush Is Dead At 94

2020 was a year that many of us will remember and very few of us will remember it for anything positive. The coronavirus pandemic had such an impact on us in so many different ways that it will be difficult to wipe clean from our minds. It seems as if 2021, although full of hope, is not without its own difficulties. One of those difficulties is seen in the fact that the sister of former Pres. George H.W. Bush, Nancy Bush Ellis has passed away as a result of COVID-19 complications. She was 94 years old when she passed away on Sunday.

Nancy had four children together with her husband, Alexander Ellis Jr after their marriage in 1946. They continued to be married to each other, living in Concorde, Massachusetts for the majority of that marriage until he died in 1989. All four of her children, Alexander Ellis III, John Prescott Ellis, Josiah Wear Ellis, and Nancy Walker Ellis Black are still alive, as well as nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jonathan James Bush. It’s quite a legacy and, considering she had both a brother and and a nephew that were president of the United States, she no doubt lived an interesting life as well.

Although Nancy was also involved in politics, it was reported that she was a Democrat but that didn’t stop her from supporting and campaigning for her family, who ran on the Republican ticket. Even though she was involved in politics, she still kept her family foremost in her life. She also lived an active life and was a champion tennis player.

The world has lost far too many individuals as a result of the virus. Nancy Ellis is just another example, but she is an extraordinary example of someone who was well known by many.
