Elvis Pours His Heart Into Love Song In Rare Video Footage

When we hear some of the more famous individuals sing, we couldn’t imagine hearing some of those songs without their voice attached to it. Some of those voices are so unique that it just seems to touch us and it doesn’t matter what they sing, we are going to love it. An example of this is Willie Nelson, who certainly has earned his reputation for having a unique voice and style. One of his songs, Always on My Mind has been popular for years but there is something you may not know about it.

Elvis Presley, who was considered to be the King of rock ‘n roll, sang in a wide variety of settings. He would sing in private venues, entertaining world leaders and international dignitaries as well as filling large stadiums full of adoring fans. People are absolutely loyal to his music and even years after his death, they still continue to love it when they hear him sing. Even though Elvis is no longer here, we can still enjoy the recordings of his music. One song that surprises many is his rendition of Always on My Mind.

Although we are probably most familiar with Willie Nelson and his rendition of the song, Elvis certainly puts a spin on it that we all can appreciate. What you may not know, however, is neither of them were the artist behind the music. It was written by Mark James, Wayne Carson and Johnny Christopher. In 1972, it was recorded by Glenn McCrae and Brenda Lee.

After Elvis heard the song, he knew that he had to perform it as well. It ended up landing in the 20 spot on the US Billboard hot 100. Interestingly, this version was released just a few weeks after he and his wife, Priscilla, split.

We don’t know if Elvis sang it because of his feelings for Priscilla or if he just recognized a good song when he heard one. One thing is certain, this shows the creativity of Elvis and we couldn’t imagine a world without his music in it.
