If there is one thing that every parent wants for their children, it’s that they want them to succeed. It can be difficult in the world where we live, when there are so many pressures being put on children on a daily basis. At times, the pressures that are put on children combined with the pressures that are put on the adults in their lives can be a recipe for disaster. The children are really along for the ride but when a parent steps up to the plate in an appropriate manner, it can really take the children to a new level and inspire people to do greater things.
Teachers often see what is going on behind the scenes but they have to piece things together in order to fully see it. That is what happened with Amanda Cox, a teacher who tries her best to bring out the best in her students. She watches her students carefully and at times, she recognizes that there are parents out there who are doing their best to help her and to help the children under her care. This was seen clearly one day when she was running low on pencils and asked one of the students if she could borrow some to give out to the class. He said it was fine, but he wanted them back at the end of the day.
Cox thought it was a little strange but when she took the pencils and started sharpening one, she noticed that there was red writing on it. She picked up the pencil and saw the message, “You are so talented” that was written on it.
That is when she knew that the mother was writing a message on the pencil so that it would help him to make it through the day. In fact, the pencils all had little comments on them and it was inspiring to read. She said: “Thanks to his mom, he was reminded of his self worth and wanted to share the same feeling with his classmates.”
Some may think that the notes are a little unnecessary, but they meant a lot to the little boy who had a mother kind enough to write them. After Amanda posted the pictures of the pencils with the story, it went viral for all the right reasons.
