Kenny Rogers And Dolly Parton Make A Song And A Memory With ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends’

Singers often perform on their own or they are the frontman for a band that really is more focused on their abilities than the ability of any other member. Although that is the case and many of these performers will build up quite a following of fans, there is something amazing that happens when they get together with other performers and sing a song. Sometimes, it doesn’t work out very well and either their personalities get in the way or their voices just don’t mix together very well. There are others, however, who do so well together that they continue to perform and they become well-known as a classic team. Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton fit into that category.

When you think about Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, you probably automatically think about some of their more epic duets, such as “Islands in the Stream”. These are songs that are not only awesome, they are timeless and will continue to play on the radio for many years to come. It just seems as if these two bounced off of each other so nicely and it was more than just a singing partnership, they became true friends. They continued to sing together and perform together on many different levels and they even made up a song about their friendship, “You Can’t Make Old Friends”. It’s a song about how this type of friendship, the friendship that they had, took some time to develop and you can’t make this up.

Unfortunately, Kenny Rogers recently passed away and the world really lost something amazing when they lost this performer. We think about many of his songs that we continue to hear playing, from The Gambler to Lucille. It isn’t those songs that most people were thinking about at this point, however, it’s the songs that he performed with Dolly Parton.

Sometimes, when a performer passes away, they become even more famous than they were before. Kenny Rogers was already a well-known and beloved individual but I’m sure that his music will live on in so many different ways for generations to come.
