Adam Levine Wows the Crowd With Thrilling Cover of ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince

The term artist is thrown around a lot these days. Of course, when people create something, they are technically an artist. But that definition fails to capture the spirit of art that only true artists can emote through their work. Art is supposed to be something that makes you feel something; it’s more than just a string of sounds or paint on a canvas. Art is a living thing, that exists within our hearts, and is felt in different ways by different people. One true artist who represented the height of art was the late Neo-Soul R&B superstar Prince. If there were ever a person who lived and breathed his art, it was this man.

Perhaps his most iconic song is the 1984 classic hit, “Purple Rain.” The song combines elements of Orchestral, R&B, Rok, and Gospel to create a sound like nothing else out there. When people think of Prince,, this is often the first song that comes to mind, as you can feel every part of his soul throughout the entire melody. I can still remember watching him play this song during the Super Bowl in the pouring rain! My favorite comment about the performance was, “You know you’re good when God does your special effects!” In this video, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine pays homage to the music icon with an inspired performance of “Purple Rain” at Howard Stern’s Birthday Bash.

Watching Adam sing and play his heart out goes to show that Prince’s legacy is indeed alive and very well!
