Ah, tight pants, one of the fashion industry’s most torturous garments, not are they hard to look at (well on some folks), but they are even harder to get on! Now, I’m not railing against the fashion, per se. I happen to think they look fantastic on certain people (who don’t seem to need blood circulation to their lower body). And you may be surprised to learn that this fashion trend dates all the way back to the 17th century! It all started in France (yes, I know, shocking, right?) during the rain of French monarch Louis XIII. Tight pants became quite the fashion statement within his court and soon spread, like a tight-fitting plague across the rest of Europe.
And like any fashion, tight pants have seen their ups and downs in popularity, but they always manage to resurrect like zombies every few generations to lock people who want to show off their buns in an airtight seal of fabric. To celebrate this popular trend, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon started performing his now-famous “Tight Pants” skits, back in 2012 with Will Ferrell. The sketch became so popular that he’s revised it with other stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera. In this video, we see Fallon, Ferrell, and Aguilara twisting and dancing in their tight pants to see whose tight pants rule the land!

The sketch starts with Ferrell dancing and singing by himself, but he’s soon his friend Aguilara as they sing about how great their tight pants are. However, soon their party’s crushed by an interloper as Fallon makes his way to the dance floor. And, of course, things quickly take a hilarious turn as Aguilara and Ferrell team up against Fallon.
