As a kid, whenever I was sick and got to stay at home, I always enjoyed watching The Price is Right. My favorite was summer vacation when I got to go to my grandma’s and watch the show with her. It was one of our favorite shows, and Bob Barker was by far our favorite game show host. We used to enjoy yelling at our TV sets, trying to urge the contestants to choose the “right” prices for items our family never bought. Barker was truly a master showman; he had a very subtle style, very spry and energetic without seeming manic.
And while he often presented a very mature and dignified presentation, he wasn’t afraid to get a little silly from time to time as he knew just how to keep the show light and fun no matter what. After his retirement in 2007, many fans missed seeing someone who had been a part of our lives for the past 35 years. And while Barker’s successor, Drew Carrey, is a terrific host, fans were still very pleased to see Bob Return during a special segment back in 2009. In the video, we see Carrey announcing the first showcase, as he says, “Pay attention to this first showcase, could go to either one of ya.”

Soon the announcer announces to the audience, “Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome back to the Price is Right, Mr. Boooob Barker!” And, when the showcase opens up out walks Barker holding a copy of his new autobiography, titled “Priceless Memories.” It was so great seeing Bob on the show once again holding his trademark thin microphone standing alongside the new host.
