When it comes to rock music, there are some people who love it and other people who could leave it. Regardless of which side of the fence you happen to be on, however, there is something interesting that happens when you mention Freddie Mercury. He is also someone who had such an impact on the music industry that he is known by people, even many years after he passed away. His music and his legacy continue to live on and we will likely be singing his songs for many years to come. Even people who don’t necessarily like rock ‘n’ roll can still appreciate the talent of that individual and the rock band where he sang, Queen.
Although most of us have probably never had the opportunity to see Queen in concert, it’s still amazing when you think about the popularity of the band. There are groups that play for hundreds or perhaps a few thousand people at stadiums when they are on tour but Queen had the privilege of playing for tens of thousands of people in a fully packed out stadium. That was the case in this 1986 concert from Wembley Stadium when Freddie Mercury was up on the stage, singing the song, ‘Love of My Life’. It’s an absolute amazement to see it for yourself in this video.
I don’t know about you, but I would have difficulty standing up in front of a small group of my friends to sing the song. Sure, I may sing karaoke when I have a beer or two in me but you would have to take me kicking and screaming to sing in front of a packed out stadium, such as Wimbley. Freddie Mercury not only was able to do it, he did it in style and you can see and hear it clearly in this performance.
It is unfortunate that Freddie Mercury died so many years ago. He left such a contribution to the music world and it would have been something to see what he was able to continue to do, had he kept performing. For now, we can enjoy watching his videos and listening to those old performances, like you can do when you watch the following video.
