When a famous singer performs a song that becomes especially popular there is something interesting that tends to happen. It isn’t long before people start covering the song, regardless of whether they are a mega celebrity or if they are just somebody with a camera and an ability to upload a video to the Internet. Those songs may never come close to the original but there is something about hearing them perform those songs they love so much that just makes us appreciate the original even more. We recognize that ‘imitation is the greatest form of flattery’, and I’m sure that they recognize it as well.
At times, one of those popular songs is re-recorded by the original artist and you never quite know what to expect. Sometimes, it may be even better than the original but at other times, it’s going to fall short of the mark. When Ed Sheeran is redoing the song, however, we have no doubt that it is going to be something well worth listening to. That is sure to be how you feel when you hear him singing the song ‘Thinking of You’ in the video below. We’ve heard it many times but when we hear the acoustic version, it is really going to make us appreciate the real talent that Ed Sheeran has at his fingertips.
There have been many songs that were very popular and they got somewhat of a revival when they were played with acoustic instruments. There was even a television show on MTV a number of years ago, called unplugged. It took those popular songs and made them popular once again by performing them without any electric guitars or other electrical equipment. Only their voice and acoustic instruments.
Ed Sheeran has come a long way in his career and if you have followed it, you recognize that he just continues to grow in popularity. Some singers flash onto the scene and then disappear just as quickly but I’m sure that Ed Sheeran will be played on the radio for many years to come.
